    Pulse generator compatibilty

I just picked up a 2000 Valkyrie that has been setting a few years because of no spark. I'm finding it is much easer to find Goldwing parts than Valktrie parts. Although they have different part numbers, will a 1500 Goldwing pulse generator fit a Valkyrie?

    Galfer break lines

Will this brake line set work on my 78 GL1000? The description says it is for a 79, but what's the difference? https://www.ebay.com/itm/251459403962

    Removing rear wheel bearings

I thought I had a problem with the rear brakes, but it turns out my rear wheel is wobbling, causing the break pads to over open. I see I will need to fabricate a pin tool to get the bearing retainer nut out of the left side of the wheel hub. How is the right bearing removed? It is not in the...

    Neutral light always on

I am going to attempt replacing the neutral switch with engine in the bike. Once the bolt next to the switch is removed, does the switch just pop out? The manual says remove the bottom engine mount bolt and flex the fame. How much will it flex without damage and what tool do I use to flex it...

    78 GL1000 Project complete

Thanks for the help and advice in working through the issues on bringing this bike back to life. When I picked it up, it was one step away from the scrap yard. Now it is a decent looking, useable bike. It is far from a show bike, but a classic with pantina. I had it on the interstate yesterday...

    Left side cover, (battery cover)

When I picked up my project 78 GL1000, all covers and many parts were off the bike and in two boxes. I did a quick inventory of the boxed parts and verified 2 side covers were there. Now that I'm at a point of putting covers back on, I discover what I though was left and right side covers...

front brake lever going all the way to grip

78 GL1000. The brake lever starts engaging the brakes about 3/4 way in. If I squeeze hard it will go all the way to the grip. I rebuilt both calipers and master cylinder with K&L kit 32-1324. I bleed the brakes until clean fluid and no air was comming out of bleed valves. I reverse bleed by...

Is it common to spend more time wrenching than riding

This 1977 Goldwing is the oldest bike I have owned since the 70's. Will I eventually get the bugs worked out and just ride it? Or is it just the nature of the beast and I'm doomed to a life of wrenching.

    Water pump replacement

I thought I was done fixing this bike up. But now notice coolant dripping from the weep hole. I assume this will require a new water pump. Most instructions I have found say you must remove the front engine cover. My Clymer manual says Just remove the pump housing and pull the pump out. It notes...

    Disassembling 1977 GL1000 gauges

I found some videos to help with disassembling gauges, but not one specifically for my bike. I know different bike have different methods of removing the trip reset knob. I don't see any set screws and turning backward isn't working. Whats the secret?

    first test ride

I got my 1977 GL1000 running well enough to take it out on its first shake down ride. Ran good once warmed up. Things that still need attention are. Turn signals and brake light not working. Speedometer and tachometer needles only moving half as far as they should and moving very slowly. Has...

I think my timing belts is too tight after replacing

I loosened the front bolt on the idler wheel about 1 turn. Loosened the back bolt just 1/4 turn and the belt got loose enough to remove the old belt and install the new one. When I tightened the rear bolt on the idler wheel, the belt got tight. This happened on both sides. Maybe I'm over...
