GL1200 Lost Its Battery Side Cover

This is true for a lot of the parts and is a great option if you have the space for a parts bike (or two, or three.....) Just to emphasize, I acquired some parts last summer from a closing shop. For covers... 2 1000 right 10 1100 right 2 1100 left (both in poor shape) 1 1200 right

GL1200 Lost Its Battery Side Cover

YES! And it's not just Goldwings, pretty much ANY motorcycle, the battery cover side is rarer and more expensive when you find one. Not all sellers realize this, so bargains can be found, if you take your time.

    Guess what I found?!

I like to obtain as much data (docs) as I can, electronic and printed from as many publishers as I can. Sometimes things can be easier to comprehend in one over the other. I've added to since that pic was taken (note to self, stay off eBay and Craigslist.) Like you, I'm frugal and am averaging...

Getting the most out of your interwebz connection?

Very close to 2 bens/mo. He would have went to the higher package (500/500) but couldn't justify the extra expense. "IF" I could get FIOS here, I'd probably consider the 50/50 or 75/75. I couldn't justify what he has, but he can. She who must be pleased, would not be! Some ballpark prices...

    CDI boxes

The deeper I dig, the deeper the hole gets. Then I read this: https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-g ... post571011 IF true, it would explain the ooozing out of the spark units in the 80-81's. I know the external resistors on 1000's get HOT! If that heat was generated by a resistor inside the...

    CDI boxes

Too many variables on why different part numbers, but from what I can see, the later number replaces the earlier. https://www.hondadirectline.com/oempartf ... -422-003/1

    CDI boxes

I had not even thought of that and was thinking more along the lines of corrosion in the electrical connections (still not a bad idea to check as well.) I found it interesting that the ballast resistor on the 82 and 83's does not have a bypass when cranking like the earlier 1000's did (May be...

    Vetter vs hondaline vs plexifairing

Depends on: 1. What YOU want 2. Whats available locally (shipping is a bear!) 3. How deep your pockets are As the Vetter Windjammer was used on MANY, MANY different bikes, I've found them more readily available and a less expensive route compared to a handlebar mounted shield or an OEM Honda...

Gas price, OUCH! ("Gas" thread merged with this one)

A lot of things factor in on prices at the pump (greed, delivery costs, hurricanes, supply, demand, etc.) State taxes explain a big part of the variance, state to state.

For Sale: Keys cut by code

If they are OEM locks, have a code stamped on them (usually on the back side,) no one has messed with them (ie. rekeyed,) and use the same key blanks displayed in this thread, then yes.

    Wanted-Oil cap for 1100 differential

Literally 'oodles' of Honda's from 1974 thru 2014 use that part! Would not be surprised if your local dealer had them in stock for less than $10. This link shows a list of the bikes that uses them https://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/h ... 0-000.html

What do I replace the oem HORNS with???

FYI: Not my mounting, but I intend to mimic it.

What do I replace the oem HORNS with???

Which is available at Harbor Freight (cheapest place I've found.)I like the way it was mounted with a custom bracket to 'tuck' it in on this customized GL1000.
