    Lonely here....

I'd like to work on some my project bikes, but, my garage doesn't have a lot of insulation, so, it costs a lot $$ to heat when it is below freezing outside.

    what did you do today

Actually two days ago, I'm a little slow at posting. I rode my '75 GL1000 on one of my favorite twisty road loops.

    Hello Gents . New Member

I'm sorry, but, I don't get the knobby tires on a bike like this. Did the PO actually take it off road? I didn't think so. And if you did take it off road, you'd want fenders. I get the cafe racer thing, I also understand scramblerizing a bike that you're going to take on smooth-ish gravel...

The '75 GL tank covers are metal.

1975 GL1000, Original and unrestored, excellent condition

Yeah, matching paint is the problem. I've been watching for tank covers with original paint, but, all I find are dented up, faded or both. So, I just live with it. I fail to see how ABS plumbing cement would be of any help. Why would I not just use normal body filler with some fiberglass...

1975 GL1000, Original and unrestored, excellent condition

Yes, true, brake lines, shocks are both non-original, but, the important stuff is there, all original bodywork with original paint, original frame paint, engine unmodified, original exhaust, etc.

It makes a difference for sure. I stops quite well considering its weight and primitive (compared to say, 1990's and later) calipers and small (compared to modern 300+mm) rotors.

1975 GL1000, Original and unrestored, excellent condition

Purchased by me from the original owner on August, 2022. It has 58k miles, and has been very well cared for. It has recently had new cam belts, all new fluids and a tune up. It is all original, unrestored, and I intend on keeping it that way. The baffles are not currently installed, but, I do...

Don't worry, I won't be changing anything, except maybe the grips, which are oversized foam covered ones. I have some stock period-correct Honda grips on hand that I may put on it soon. Also, I MUST disconnect the turn signal beeper, it is driving me crazy!

This is my recently-acquired 1975 GL1000. 1 owner, 58k miles, very well cared for. It has recently had new cam belts, all new fluids and a tune up. It runs great, and is properly quick for a 47 year old 602lb (273kg) "dry weight" bike. It also handles better than I expected it would. I'm...
