80 wing I want to replace the O-ring on the reservoir., as it is leaking.

I can not find the o-ring for the 80.

Every where I look I get 2 different pics of the master.

Do I need # 16 or #17 and how do I know it is for the 80I ?

The master cyl on 80-81 has 4 screws on the lid, 83 on had 2 screws holding the top on. And I don't think you can purchase it separately. I had same problem as I am rebuilding a bike.
Possibly try David silver spares, usually pretty good or try local auto shop or a bearings and seals specialist. You can also buy a kit to make your own Orings.
Are you sure the oring is what is letting it leak? Strip the cylinder, clean in soapy water then fresh, then blow compressed air thru. Reassemble and use rubber grease on Oring. Make sure it's snug. The plastic resevoir should be difficult to get out but with rubber grease on it easy to slot back in. If you need parts check brakecrafters out...

I've made my own for '78 and '79 with o-ring chord and super glue. Cut on 45 and trial fit until pleased, glue it and lube with Dow Corning High Vacuum Grease. Needs to be a tight fit.

If you look up dot brake fluid and o-ring material, you'll find what materials do and don't work for o-rings exposed to brake fluid.

Maybe your local hardware store has an o-ring that would work.

Thank You very much. I did not understand the drawings. You made it clear for me.
No probs... You're very welcome. Had me puzzled til I worked out too.
All the comments after mine all pretty similar too. It's a good option to have an Oring making kit handy
Especially with these old girls...
I've just found that me left hand swing arm pivot point thread has been cross threaded so here I go again... Strip down so I can take it in to my frame repairer.... :crying:
