Well it’s been about 7 months since I bought Aspy and now it is finally done…..well the word “done” is never truly achievable. I have had a lot of fun working on this little project and now I can even buy food again.
I have been through most anything I could take off, if it wasn’t repairable, paintable, couldn’t be polished or cleaned it was replaced with new. I had to repaint some of the body parts, my bike is an 86 and I had the colors shot with match gun at paint store and mazda’s Joy brown was the main color and what was originally decals (inset color), is Ford dark rosewood. I did the fairing trim, trunk top, saddle bag tops and the doors on top of shelter.
I took all the wire harnesses and either cleaned them in the ultra-sonic cleaner or replaced blades in the plugs with correct factory style or factory. Then each plug/connector was spayed with de-ox and then had dielectric grease applied.
I bought all new chrome bolts from Honda for the engine and all other bolts from front to back where replaced with stainless wherever I could ( a few bolts were of a fine pitch I couldn’t get in stainless).
So any way I just want to thank you all for the support and hope to get many miles of ride time out of this old toad.
Thank you

Long road to a better than new looking bike. I have neither the time or patience to put that much effort into a build. Beautiful job!

Okay I guess that one gets parked in the livingroom to be dusted and polished. Need to hunt a ratwing to ride.

Congratulations on a job well done!!

I thought for a moment you had a picture of my 86 Aspencade, but yours sparkles and mine just sets there.

You did a beautiful job of restoring, your attention to detail is great. May I ask, what did you shoot (paint) it with?
It is Dupont Chromacolor base and Chromacolor clear. HVLP gun at 25psi with 1.4 tip
mazda joy brown for main color
ford dark rosewood for inset color

Simply beautiful. Thanks for the colors, I am thinking of getting mine repainted. I would have to pay someone to do it, never done such a thing myself.
