now that i have an internet connection at home again i can tell you all about my break out ride. most of you know that i am in an MC club and one thing they do is their annual break out ride, usually its a three hundred miler and you have to cross a state line. my foot wasn't in good enough shape to do the ride with the club so back on the 9th i decided to do my own on my goldwing. i was up early and out the door. my plan was to take I-94 west to I-275 south pick up I-75 and exit at summit street. that plan got nixed because of construction so i ended up following dixie highway. i stopped at the boarder for a couple pic's

while at the marblehead lighthouse i met a guy riding a super clean slightly custom '78 wing, he told me about the post office in gypsum so i set out to find it and get a few more pic's while in town. i stopped at the airport seeing that it was on the way

it wasn't even 13:00 and i wanted to be home by 15:00 so i got back on163 as fast as i could. the temp had shot up to around 93F and that patio door of a windshield just wasn't letting enough air through for my liking but i had enough gas to make it back to detroit without stopping for fuel. there wasn't any slow pokes or LEO's on route 2 so i make my way back to I-280 pretty quick. once back on I-75 there was little traffic so i made it to my destination in the city with 10 minutes to spare, i had 272 miles at that point and it was acceptable as a break out ride. 276 miles when i made it home

Loved the firehouse! How's the foot holding up?
i have to move the foot around on the peg so it doesn't get irritated and by the time i get home i'm walking flat footed for about a half hour. right now i wouldn't go more than three hours one way

I'm still hobbling a little bit. Actually more like a slight limp, but definitely getting better. I think I lucked out.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the saddle. My summer trip hasn't happened yet. To be honest, it's starting to look like early October at this point.

still sounds like progress so lets hope that sometime in october you can make that trip. my mom is asking me to get her some fudge, that means a five hour ( one way ) trip up to mackinaw, Mi. that probably won't happen until close to october
