Thinking a kayak camping trip in the Chained Islands north of Quadra Island might be a good trip.
That looks like it would be great trip. Is there easy access to fresh water for drinking in the area? The waters look well protected in the event the weather turns sour.

Have to do a bit of research, but probably have to take some water with you. Talked to a couple of ladies at Granite Bay where you would launch that did an extended weekend up there - their first time camping from kayaks, and they mentioned that the charts for the area indicate where the shore camping is, but they mentioned that there is a lot of shore camping that is not designated.

For the older folks that find short tents are painful, have any of you tried modern camping hammocks? I'm curious about the result.

My Wife and I tried a hammock on our 35 anniversary on the beach in Saint Lucia. We had to get extracted from it.......... :smilie_happy:

So growing old is a series of horrible surprises, isn't it?

Doesn't have to be. A surprise is something that happens that you have no control over, and hopefully these are enjoyable. The rest of what we do as we age should be a calculated event to minimize any impact on our person.

Camping to me is a treat, and to be used as such, a restaurant close to the campground is a good idea as well. Couple - three times a year is good. Kayak camping in the same light. Having camping gear with you when on a motorcycle trip is a good fallback scenario, or if the place and weather is nice, why not.

The ability to say to oneself that something is not as expected, and choose a different plan, or just turn around and go home. Whatever you were going to do isn't going anywhere. Can always come back.

As we age, just have to do things smarter, keeps us going longer; however, if you are going to do something that is not in your age bracket, make sure it's entertaining for the rest of us, I've heard laughing is good for the soul. :music: :music: No hurting yourself when providing this levity.

Cheers

Oh, I assure you, we have put on some unplanned entertainment! :smilie_happy:
