Thought I had seen a post on this when I was riding my 82 Asspy about cleaning the cap, but couldn't find it, what are those that clean their caps use ? I/m thinkin that I read someone was soaking it in vinegar ? saw a guy on you tube just using WD 40 and a little compressed air . was going to take the one off my 95 SE since it/s put away for the winter and just do a little winter maint on it
Thanks in advance Winger 82

I used apple cider vinegar and it worked great! Got rid of the rust and loosened the vent. The vent is a big deal when these gas caps become rusted. During hot days, the gas expands and if the cap doesn't vent it plays havoc on the carbs. One slightly dirty needle or seat in one carb and next thing you know there is gas leaking into the engine when the bike sits.
