G'day from Perth in Western Australia. I'm 52years of age... And revisiting the machine that started my love affair with motorcycles. When I was 17...i had a 76 candy apple red
Gl1000.
Recently.. Like last weekend. I took ownership of an 1100. It has been sitting for 15 years! The bones of the the bike are really good... But the paint etc is yet to desire. It has a meazley 39000km.
So far I've stripped back end down, pulled the tank out and cleaned it... So much crap in it.. But not rust. Found a small hole that has been corroded from the outside where rear master brake cylinder has leaked onto it and corroded thru.. But not a big problem... I'm goin to have it brazed so then I can get it and rear swing arm components.. And hope frame etc sent away for sand or sodablasting and powdercoated
.
I look forward to sharing my progress tho slow as its going to be with you and hope share some tip and tricks..
Thankfully the bike is 97% complete.. Just minus a couple of things like left hand battery side cover and air balance hose on front forks... So no real dramas yet..

Those are some interesting turn signals on that front fairing.

None of those will be staying on it. I had a similar fairing on my 1000...had it painted same colour... Was nice...

Welcome to Classics from the Land up Over! Every time I visited Perth, or Fremantle, it was a wonderful time, and it's the only place I ever played a round of golf and had kangaroos come out of the bushes.

I'll admit I'm curious - are those the OEM turn signals, because from the side, they look like them.

Yep I’d say they are stock lights ...use what you have ...

Problem will probably be the mounts - they are usually cut off, and the replacements are spendy on eBay in the states. Don't know if they are just as spendy in Aus.

Going by fitments on this ol girl it used to be an interstate. Maybe it's had a bingle where all fairings etc were damaged.. I'm not sure. But it's certainly got mounting points etc for orig fairing and the rear racks are Hondaline. Indicators appear to be the factory ones on front.. Rear look like set of an old cb250n

Spendy IF you can find them! All of the '79 headlight mounts that I've found have had the mounts hack-sawed off. Thinking of coming up with a screw-on piece to replace them on mine.
