There is no reason to get defensive. If there is something you know I dont,I want to learn it.
A quick search confirms that they are the same grip fpr 1100s,1200s,1500s and 1800.The only thing I recall having 1 inch bars are HDs and cruizers.

I will re-ask my original question. Is the bar thicker at the mounting area (near the tree) than at the grip?

It is totally possible to still have the correct bars, and got moved around while not torqued tight enough.
The bars are steel and the clamps are aluminum.Perhaps you can clean up the knurl in the bar and replace the clamps if machining them does not work.

I made risers for mine out of aluminum and they are holding tight for three years now. Maching should work fine.

I'm not getting defensive I simply stated a couple of facts and did not understand what you needed me to elaborate on ...

As I mentioned earlier there is no doubt you can make handle-grips from an 1100 fit a 1200 because they are made of rubber and the bars are only a little bit thicker its on the triple tree that you get problems when you mix and match.

As for only HD being the only bike with 1 inch bars I know very little about Harleys - when I told you the width of the 1200 bars was 25.55 mm it was because I took my caliper and measured it.

Unfortunately the only 1200 I have atm is my daily rider and I am not about to go through the effort of taking the trim pieces off to measure the width at the knurl but if memory serves me well I am pretty sure i recall the 1100 triple tree bracket does not fit on the 1200 for good reason.
Just a thought does the knurl on the bars match up with the knurl on the bracket?

Looking at the picture of the bike with the meters (if that is your bike) those brackets look like 1200's the 1100's come in one piece.

I can only confirm the 1100 measurment. I happen to own an 1100 and a set of one inch micrometers. The bars measure exactly .875" , that is 7/8" period. I have no idea why they would not be a metric size but they are not.
BTW, 7/8" converts to 22.225 MM which is an odd measurment, they are not metric.

The PIC with the gauges is my bike.
The clamps you see are the home made ones I was referring to in my post.I made them out of aluminum.
Simply bored a 7/8 hole, drilled and counterbored the mounting holes, and cut them apart making two pieces.

I have five hondas in my gargae right now.And have owned countless other UJMs.All have 7/8 bars.
When I order bars, grips, gauges shown above and other bar accesarys thay are always for 7/8

I was just wondering if there is something special for the 1200s I am not aware of.
According to HONDA they are the same grip.

Buck » Wed Jun 12, 2013 4:22 pm[/url]":fd6s7wwn]so im looking for a quick temporary fix for my loose handlebars, the clamp that holds it on is just a bit to big, the bolts are as tight as they will get and yet it is still loose.

the guy before me put what looks like thread lock in there, i cleaned it out, and it worked fine for a few weeks now, and all the sudden they start loosening up again.

i just need to think of something to do a temporary fix until i can leave my bike at my buddies for a night and he can grind that bracket down for me.

Posted last Wednesday. Did your bud grind them?

oh hell guys....the handlebars are fine for now...just been busy as hell with work. ive put over half of my weight onto those bars and they wont budge.
