Hi new members from the uk

Derrick and Jeni

We are Honda fans although we have had a lot of bikes we are now into classic gold wings

We are rebuilding a 1100 and have a low milage 47000 1200 interstate.

The 1100 is a naked with trunk and panniers added

I have a question for the forum

Rebuilding the 1100 engine and refitting the internal oil strainer we could not find a seal or o ring on and parts suppliers websites and can't remember if there was a seal or o ring when dismantling.

The question is should there be a seal where the internal oil strainer fits into the oil way on the casing?

Welcome to Classics from the other side of the pond!

Looking at the parts diagram, it appears there is a gasket that goes under the cover.

Welcome from Southern California! There is not a seal there, but I put an o-ring in when I rebuilt my '83. Probably doesn't need one, any particle that can't get through the screen also can't get through the gap between the tube and the case. I'm always over-cautious...

Thank you so much.

Such warm welcome

A small o ring has now been fitted to the internal oil strainer.

Belt and braces.

Now to time the cams :thanks: :Egyptian:
