I posted this in the Video References forum for future linking but thought I'd post here also for discussion because those forums are locked.

Has a distinctive sound, Is it heard the same with the covers on too?
Very close though more a 'howling' is heard.

Those bearings are usually ignored when changing the belts. It's a good idea to give 'em a spin, and turn 'em by hand. They should feel smooth and spin silently.

This idler spun smooth when I changed the belts.

It got real noisy on the ride yesterday:

( camera has to be close to pick it up, can hear well while sitting on the seat)

Just to be sure is that sound like spinning a whip through the air or is it the sewing machine sound..Or both?
Seems both noises.

Odd thing, tried fitting 2 idlers from an 1100 but neither fit properly.
They both sit right against the engine housing at the top part and don't have any play left to allow any proper adjustment, too tight on the belt.
Numbers on the idler are the same, I must be missing something.

Well I'm not missing anything, the 1100 pulley's are positioned differently on the back plate, sheesh thanks Honda.

1200 pulley mounted

1100 pulley mounted

Can see the difference in pulley position on the back plate

Going to grind it out to fit
