On the Hunley, I found the valves and seats rust-pitted. New valves are not that expensive, and a local shop ground the seats for $10 in 10 minutes!

Agree. Refurbished heads will pay dividends later.

Put it in 3rd or fourth if you're trying to rock the engine loose. 4th is about 1 to 1 and 1st is about 3 to 1.
Thanks PurpleGL1200 that worked awesome put in 4th rocked a few times and broke free makes me very happy. Haven't cleaned where the pistons where stuck but it don't look bad at all and dont feel bad by touching. Passengers side pictures.

Glad you got the pistons moving. If the engine is out, check the piston rings by putting motor oil in the cylinder and let the oil sit. You want to see if the break free damaged the rings. If the oil doesn't drain past the pistons, rings should be in good shape and once you get the engine operating, the rings should only get better. Just a thought.

Took one of the front brake caliper off and took it apart. Piston came out with no problems with air pressure. Piston has a few little spots that had rust but not big can feel it with finger nail but cant really feel it when finger runs across it

Single-edge razor blades clamped with hemostats to "shave" the rust from cylinder walls. Grease packed between piston and wsll to keep debris out. Yours look MUCH better than mine did.

Caliper body should clean up nicely with aluminum foil and brake cleaner - ring groove top and sides critical. Sorry, but the brake piston needs tossed, IMHO. See https://wingovations.com/stainless-steel ... 4588600239 for info on the various ones.

Not really haven't worked on it in 6 months. But the Wing is about to move to a bigger garage in a few wks. so ill have more room to work. So ill get back in the grove and work on it more.
