I planed a trip this past weekend to go to the flight 93 memorial and then to Oakland, md. my niece lisa said she wanted to go, I had no problem with that so I ask my friend in md. if he had room for one more visitor and he said yes! lisa was riding with me and friends back in '11 when the stator went out on the 1200 wing, we rode down to Logansport, in. and made it to middle Sandusky, oh. before the stator gave up the ghost. needless to say that she wasn't happy, nether was I. I met up with lisa Friday morning about 7a, an hour later than I wanted to leave but it was warm and a very light breeze. we took I-75 south into ohio. the joke among four of use at henry's is " you can't go to or through ohio without going through Woodville." lisa and I headed for us-20 which would take us through Woodville but five miles down the road us-20 detoured onto 795 which promptly took us back to I-80 to pay the toll to cross ohio. at the Sandusky service center we stopped mainly cause I wanted to check on lisa, we had not stopped since exit 18 in Michigan. seeing that she was good we pushed on fore the towpath service center which is closer to Cleveland, we stopped there for lunch, fuel, and free maps!! after that break it was back on the road for us, we ran 70-75mph for most of the trip on the expressways and the new alternator worked as advertised. the temp was rising but the wind was still pretty mild with a mix of clouds and sun. our next stop was on I-76 at the oak mount plum service center at about 13:40, this place was jam packed so we refueled and got some eye drops and got back on the road as fast as we could

lisa had never been in Pa. and was awe struck by the landscape she was riding through. we made it to somerset about 4:55 and over to the memorial by 5:10. I've never ridden a motorcycle in Pa. without getting rained on and this trip was no different, it sprinkled enough that we got wet on the way to the memorial. a lot of changes have been made since my last visit in 2011, the benches, visitor center, and the wall with the names of those that perished were not there in '11

Sumthin aint it!?

Beautiful green countryside there. We could use some of that here!
it looks way different now than from my last visit. I've got some more pic's to upload on the computer so this one is going to take a day or two to complete this writeup

Their plans are to plant an enormous amount of trees on the rest of the property ( at least I've been told ) will have to make another trip down that way, it's been 2 yrs since we were there last. :music: :music:

They planted something like 22,000 trees at the site this April during arbor day. The place never looks the same every time I stop, and I try to stop at least one a year. Some time I hope to make it on Sept. 11th.

Is there any significance to those three names?
I know that Todd Beamer is the civilian on the plane who rallied the other passengers and initiated the attack against the terrorist on the plane that caused it to divert from it's target.

Lorraine G Bay was one of the Flight Attendants. I'm sure there are more names there(40)...just need to allow William time to upload his pics.

I was at the World Trade Center Memorial a year after it opened. All the names of those that died 9/11/01, and also during the WTC bombing of 1993 are cut into a bronze piece that wraps around both fountains:

Several names have been rubbed/touched so much that the black coating has been removed to expose the bare bronze. Todd Beamers is one of those names.

I hope that the words of my life have that kind of effect on people.

the time came to leave the flight 93 memorial and make our way to Oakland, md so we took us-30 east to pa-160, I don't think lisa was ready for the two lane twisty roads that Pa. has but I'm glad she took caution. we took us-219 south and made a stop for fuel at the pilot travel center in Grantsville, md. the roads were wet and a local told us that we might see rain going south. all the twisties and going up and down the hills was wearing on lisa and it was showing, she was getting tired of them but there were more to come. the ride to md-495was a pretty easy ride, we made a right on Glendale rd. we passed ourturn and at the end of Glendale rd. it started raining hard so we pulled in that the inn at deep creek lake for shelter. we put the half covers on the wings then went inside. we were going to get a room if it were much farther to go but the lady at the desk said we were less than a mile away. once the rain slowed down we got back on the road and passed the road we were looking for to turn on. so we had to turn around again and back track and of course it started raining again. but we found our way to the house. brian had the garage door open for us and we rode right in. after getting out of the soggy riding gear we followed brian to the house, 456 miles covered we went in and met david, and rohny

we also met rohny's GF. I think lisa and I were too tired and it was too late to want to eat seeing it was way past 9p when we arrived. Saturday bill, Janice, lee, eddie, and rick arrived. I went out to take some pic's of the place we were invited to stay and of the garage and grounds

there was plenty to do if you cared to, there were jet ski's, a couple of kyacks, a canoe, and a power boat at our disposal, brian gave lisa a ride on one of the jet ski's and yes she liked it too much!! I relaxed and chatted with the guys but rohnny and his GF, bill and Janice had to leave. sunday everyone was up by 7:30, lisa and I should have been on the road but that didn't happen until about 10:45 but at least we had great weather leaving deep creek lake. we took us- 219 to Md-42 and made our way to I-68. once in Va. we stopped in the welcome center to get a couple of free maps. we headed north on I-79 and stopped in eighty four, pa. for gas, traffic in the area was kind of heavy but it was still warm and dry. we took I-79 back to I-76, by then traffic had thinned out and the ride was more enjoyable. soon we were heading west on I-80. it started sprinkling so we stopped near Cleveland so I could put the waterproof liner in my jacket but the rain didn't last long

as we got near Toledo the wind was picking up speed so we bypassed the big bridge and cut through the city to rejoin I-280. our next stop for gas was at the pilot travel center at exit 18 in Michigan. just as we were ready to leave it started to thunder and we saw lightning. it took us about an hour and a half to get to my house, it should have taken about and hour but the rain slowed us down. it was 9:15 when we got there and even though the wings were wet we covered then up anyway. with lisa's gear loaded in my van I drove her home then got me back home. despite the rain we had a great ride and a great time, we ended up totaling 998 miles for the trip

no those are just a few of the people that perished in the crash, when the wall is complete each slab will have someone's name on it, I just posted a few of them

Looks really comfy William :music:
it was really comfy. this was the first M&G that the home owner hosted and he had a great time also. I asked if he would open up the lake house for another M&G and he said yes
