My Sony Digital 8 has a button called "programs". This lets me select for things like portait, or sports, or sunlight with hard shadows, etc. All it shows me are icons for each mode. I am assuming this would be the equivelent to a still cameras "ISO" and "A" settings. (however limited) This one also has a button called "exposure". This one acts like it conrols shutter speed.
I don't have a timing light here at the house to experiment with, but if I did, I would try to adjust for very bright sunlight, and the fastest shutter speed that will show up in the viewfinder when looking at the timing light flash. Probably even adjusting shutter speed while viewing the flashes. I'm thinking shutter speed is out of time with the flashes. If your camera allows you enough control, you might even be able to get to a point where it looks like a still picture when the shutter speed is timed with the light.
Now I wish I had a timing light here. I'd like to try it.
