    Vacuum Operated Petcock

My 2005 KLR-650 has a vacuum petcock and it started shutting me off on a 50 mile trip one day last summer. I has to stop and work on it on the side of the road twice before I figured out what it was. I then figured out how to temporarily bypass it and went to the Kawasaki dealer in the next town...

    Side Stand Safety Switch

Very cool, :ahem: good safety feature. I once tried to honk the horn while on the side stand and over she went. Did you design the bracket?

    engine

When there is a cross over mostly you'll just lose power. Very aggravating but not harmful to the engine unless you used it that way at high speeds for a long time. :Awe:

Because there is a crossover maybe the muffler is plugged or something? Potato in the pipe  :whistling:

Advance non-adjustable? Here's how to change that :) AND is there a replacement out there?

I currently have mine off the bike for overhaul. I had a lot of crap inside the advance mechanism and the vacuum portion would only move sometimes due to dirt and corrosion. With all the gaskets and sealed up the way it is I was confused as to where the crap came from. I finally realized that...

    What's in a username?

Hi Joe I have had the wing apart for over a year. The whole rear end is apart. I have the gas tank in a container, the donor rod is in place so I can do electrolysis for the rust. I have the advance mechanism out cause it was locked up. You know the ailments of a 29 year old bike. I have been on...

    What's in a username?

I was in an sales organization many years ago and if you performed at a certain level you got to be a member of the "white rhino" club and you got a beret. I liked the name so well I kept using it. :-)

Crack Killz, or whats under that tape Omega?

After my repair I decided I should have mounted the fairing while it was soft so it could take a new set that matches the fairing mount when It hardens. Sooooo I put one more thick coat of abs cement on it and mounted it up. I think doing that will lessen the chance of future cracks...

Crack Killz, or whats under that tape Omega?

When I did my repair I took the fairing to the car wash and cleaned it up real good. The ABS cement is readily available and is a solvent to the ABS in the fairing. I pit on as thick coat then the poly material and 2 or 3 more coats on top of that. The solvent will melt the cracks back together...

Final Drive O-ring, where to get?

I have seen several of the larger o-rings that look D-shaped, but I believe that is a sign of being distorted by the application and IMHO any one you find that is D-shaped should be replaced. :ok:

    bluetooth gadgets

I can't hear a phone ring on the bike, and I enjoy not being disturbed any. When my fairing was broken I took all the radios out work on it and sold them to chasrogers since I never listen to the radio either. Driving time is my thinking time, you might say my creative problem solving time if...

Servicing final drive, lithium grease or moly paste?

OK so I cleaned the splines with brake cleaner and finally used my pressure washer to get it all out. That part looks good now but then I decided to clean the rear wheel, so I used the pressure washer on that and the carrier seemed to come off but the molly was left coating the tire and rim...

Servicing final drive, lithium grease or moly paste?

I think mine is only the moly 60 liquefying also.. I shall use it no more. I don't think my splines are dry, I put a lot in and this is about 3000 miles since I last serviced the splines.
