These old wiring harnesses can be a huge pain to deal with. One step at a time.

Oh yeah, +1

Well the time has come at last. I left the engine in the 77 and I posted a video of it ideling in the blue room I call it. Well I drained the oil and it was at the top of the oil drum. So to much oil. The clutch discs were toasted and the side of the clutch drum is blackned. I did get things flipped around and got it going all things are handled. here is the check list hope you all like it so far. Also I went for a ride today with the wife. man I know now why I like the Vetter stuff. To much wind and noise from it. I also can't hear the bike run. This will alll change once I get the Vetter touring package on it . I was tossed on using the touring package but that short hop to the corner now I know why I am going to put it on. I'm no spring bird plus I like no wind noise or cold air.

Ok all,,,! :head bang:

I took the bike out for a ride yesterday to ride downtown to the old bike vintage show. I did not see one gl1000 in the bunch. Except the one I was riding and her name is Vader. This bike I must say after I got it all together with the fairing and lowers on it ride WAY BETTER than my 78  I'm unsure why this is but the bike tracks smooth as an arrow. HOWEVER...! I have found that when I moved the rack from my 78 the noise I was hearing in the #1 cylinder is now in the 77. So there is something wrong with the carburetor. :head bang: I have just had it with the rack and I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE......! So I have been reading a lot of the single builds that have been done but the information on the 32/32 DTF is scattered about the form. I really haven't seen one stock build from start to finish. Other than Joe's build and the bike is way from stock. So I bought a manifold and a 34pic kinda a plug and play. I spent some time on the phone with the builder and read and talked and read some more. It should be on the bike no later than the 22nd. I posted up some information on FB about the carburetor change and of course there are people that say nay..1 I just said I know a guy who can pull the wheel off the ground in gears 1/2. They said just spend the 450.00 I said not on old aluminum that is going to continue to fall apart. So I think some trash is in one of the air passages causing this issue and I'm not about to fuss about anymore. There going in the box along with the other 3 racks. I will keep the original rack that I bought that has never been apart for the original engine I have in the shop. The engine I talked to Joe about will get the 32/32 once I figure out where to look for a complete build on this pictular carburetor build (links please) I'm not asking for a here you go but the guidline of thereof. here are a couple of pictures of the ride yesterday and the rack I'll be saving for the engine. I also want to build another engine with the 75 heads I know there is some timing or something I'm guessing. Anayway cheers and I hope all had a great weekend..! PS. it is new shirt time mine are getting faded.. :hi:

Read Joe's thread Hooch get's a new fuel source. He posted everything he did step by step and he doesn't mind if folks call with questions. dkl's build is pretty simple and the single solex carb seems easier to get right. Start a new thread for your SCC. We'll all be happy to follow your progress and help where we can.

The Vetter is a double edge sword. It will block the wind and noise, but it will also make it easier to hear the wife on the back.... :smilie_happy: :0fftopic:

So correct, now I might need to trade up and still keep the Vetter
