Really? I mean I "WAS" prepared... I happily started to replace my failing 7volt regulator with Vegaswingnut's words echoing in my head from one of our trips to this one bike in the boneyard where he pulled one of these while I was grabbing other parts, "got it! these suckers are hard to get out but it was worth it." I responded with a half interested "meh."

Do I really have to disconnect every wire in the cluster to get to the back plate? I see the business end of two small bolts the perfect distance apart for mounting the darn thing on the other side. :head bang:

If I have to I'll just take good pics of how everything goes back together.

:headscratch: I didn't have to remove any wires on mine. I removed the plastic cover on the back of the gauges, and the weight. Dang thing was right there on mine... Reckon the '82 is that much different?
