I really wanted to roll it out and move under its own power this weekend BUT the wife and I spent most of it doing badly needed Spring yard work. I had time sunday after dinner but I was too stiff and sore to risk getting a 600lb bike off the lift. I took a fall saturday and bashed my knee too. At work today I was looking forward to getting home and to the bike but I'm still recovering from the weekend. Remember when that meant you had too much fun, not "I did yard work  "?

I think by tomorrow I'll be good enough to get back into it.

PS the yard looks much better, too.

Great to have someone else to blame. :hihihi: Yea spent a good bit of time wheel barrowing some free sod & dirt, from the city digging out the excess in the ditch in front of my house. :whistling: I feel your pain

"It's acting like it's not getting gas, hmmmm..."
Remove fuel line and crank to see if the carb is getting gas- no.
The tank is nearly empty, so flip petcock to "reserve".

See if anti-dieseling solenoid is working.- no.
Reattach the ground wire to the carb that I forgot about.

Thanks Chuck for posting this. When my bike did the same thing this evening, I didn't need to think twice about what was wrong. I just flipped the petcock and continued working!

:smilie_happy:

I hoped to change the oil (see the "what did you do today" post) and get it down off the jack sunday and maybe even move it under it's own power but the weather here was terrible. I did get a step closer today by cleaning up around it and putting tools away (half of mine were on the bike or the jack) and of course I had to fire it up. It started very easily and ran fair. The carb still needs some adjustment but it's rideable. It's not legal. No tags, lights, etc. but next chance I can actually ride it for the first time!

On the ground, moving under it's own power for the first time in at least 4 years!

Everything is stiff and sticky. As I've never ridden one before today, I don't know what's normal! The clutch seems to take much more effort than I'm used to but that might be normal. My comparison is a 465-ish lb 600cc 1997 bike. I imagine a 1100cc engine pulling a 650lb bike has a bit more robust clutch. Brakes seem to work ok but the front was dragging so bad it had to pull it down the ramp off the lift. I hope it loosens up some. That machine is quite enough effort to move without dragging brakes.

Welcome!

That is also nearly the first time I've even ridden a Goldwing. Anyway that pretty much wraps up this thread. Thanks to all for your encouragement. Now on to fuel cut-off, brake caliper rebuilds, fork seals, etc. etc......
