Hmm. I never messed with the air bleed jet, so I am not even sure what sizes are in both my old and my new carb, but now I need to look.

Should I block the hole on the butterfly before installing?

I never blocked mine on the old carb and it worked fine, and I do not plan on doing it on the new carb. Not sure how the open hole will be affected on the 1000 though. The one thing I did make sure of though was that the acceleration pump output tube did not spray directly down the throat of the carb.

I'll make sure to route the tube a bit. Last carb pushed so much fuel straight in that it leaked out the union in the exhaust.

I'll bolt it on and try to get her running the way it sits without adjusting anything as a start.
