Was planning on replacing my rear shocks on my old Aspy.I bought a used set off ebay a number of years ago. When I checked the shrader valve to see if there was air in the replacement shocks, oil came out. Does this mean the shocks are no good?

Yes of course, but I didn't think the oil should come out when you depress the air valve

Read some of the shock threads. These are air/hydraulic shocks. Air pressure will push out any oil near the valve or air line if it's been in any other position besides vertical.

Thanks a lot , makes sense. These shocks were laying horizontal on my bench so hence the oil purge
