leaving out of Joliet you come to the fork in the road, straight ahead there is a rout 66 marker or you can follow the road that cuts off to the left. I followed the marker, it wasn't the road to take though cause it put me on I-55 with no way to get back. the road to the left is the one that takes you to the beginning of route 66 in Chicago. so that ended my kicks on route 66 so it was time to head home. I picked up us-12 for a nice senic ride through the south side of Chicago before making it back to Hammond, IN.. from there I followed us- 12 then took us-31 north. I took I-94 east to Watervliet, MI. and stuffed my self with a whopper, fries, chocolate chip cookies, and a coke from burger king. the burger king lunch worked its magic and by the time I made it to Jackson, MI. I was happy to see the rest area and relieve my self. feeling much better and much lighter I made the hour and a half ride home from Jackson, arriving about 17:15 and 808 miles for my weekend trip

Not only do you get out often, you have a knack for finding some really neat spots. I am most impressed by the photos of all the murals you manage to find.

Good stuff.
thank you but if I were in AZ. I would plan a ride to Kingman and Oatman, AZ. for some route 66 kicks

Great fun ...I like the restored has stations ....funny how insane the gas system is now ... service is not there business anymore period ....just great pics william
there were a lot of restored gas / service stations, I guess it is relatively easy to restore them. I think next year i'll go back down near Joliet and get a few pic's I missed there then make my way on 66 into Chicago
..
..
I want to thank everyone for following my travels and for the birthday greetings / wishes

sunday I met up with my niece lisa ( on my left ), she hops on her wing ( or mine if hers is down ) and does a lot of riding with me. then there is my sister linda, she treated meto lunch for my birthday otherwise I would have spent more time on the road. that's mom next to her, and my nephew Dewey, Dewey use to ride with me also but has been working a lot of hours on his new job

I feel like those pics of the restored gas stations need to be in black and white for them to look right to me Lol.
are you going to make an option for B&W pic's

B&W pics can be uploaded the same as other pics, but conversion would have to be done prior to uploading. I'll do that later unless someone beats me to it.

Seems like you had a great birthday ride and then some great family celebrations. :thanks: as always for the great pictures and ride report.
Happy 58th. :salute:
