Well, I'm a little late to this thread party but, but, but...
If old is shiny, then why not keep the shine shining? A Valkyrie has lots of chrome - which holds up well over the years if taken care of. Bottle of Windex, a few paper towels and 30 minutes and the old gurl shines like new money.
One thing that I did notice on the Valkyrie is that it can be downright painful to ride between about 11AM and 2PM. Why? Because when the sun gets high in the sky, the danged reflections off all that chrome (valve covers, tank crown, gauges, headlight, bars, etc.) can be very blinding. (Really). If you want to talk about "disadvantages of a shiny Valkyrie", that is a big one.
Truth be told, it's a disadvantage I don't really mind!
