    Armrests for an 1100(wanted)

I have a set of the fold down type armrests fro an 1100. There is a little rust, but not bad. I am switching to the swing out style, instead of the fold down style. I can't get my leg over the seat with the armrests up or down, due to the arthritus in my knee and my hip. I can take some pics...

There's a moron working on my bike.

That worked great. I just jacked the bike up on the cross piece for the engine gaurds and put a jack stand on each side under the guards on both sides. It was nice and stable. I got the front tire done just fine. I put of the front fork rebuild. I figure I can do that this winter when it's...

There's a moron working on my bike.

I like that approach. I have it on the center stand. I can use my ATV jack to raise the front and then put some jack stands under the engine guards. Even the moron in my shop should be able to do that safely! Thanks for all the suggestions. Dennis

There's a moron working on my bike.

That would be me. A few weeks back my wife an d I were out riding and some lady started to pull out in front of us, so I tried to blow the horn. It was so weak I could barely hear it, and the lady in the car just kept on. Luckily I had room to slow down. As a result I got some new horns, so...

Seats, the best of times, and the worst of times.

In all fairness, I did get an email reply from Rick Meyer seats. he confirmed that with my weight +300#, I would be better off with a Day-Long saddle. Let's hope Diamond also knows what they are doing with us big guys.

Nice ride today, maybe done for a while.

My wife and I went for a nice ride today. Just about 2 hours, but it was nice. I'm still getting the hang of the wing. This is only my second time on the twisty stuff around here. I felt a lot better on it this time. I do like the bike, a lot. The bike will be down for a while. I ordered...

Seats, the best of times, and the worst of times.

I sold my seat from my Suzuki Marauder on ebay. The guy bought the same day I listed it. I shipped it the next day, USPS Parcel Post. Then the post office decided to take their good old time shipping it. He got real impatient and after 5 days he filed a complaint with ebay (Who no longer...

    New seat time. Maybe.

The ebay listing price went down by $10, but they also took away the free shipping, which is an additional $33, so teh total price is now $23 higher. So I decided to wait on the seat. I need new fork springs and a rear tire really bad, and probably a front tire, although it has tread left. I...

    New seat time. Maybe.

I hope you don't mind me asking a personal question, but what is your inseam? I'm almst 6 foot tall but I have short legs, and my inseam is only about 30 inches. I have an old Diamond Seat for the 1100 and it is better than the stock and higher, except I slide forward all the time on it, and...

    New seat time. Maybe.

Has anyone used the Saddlemen Road Sofa on a GL1100? I have my eyes set on a Russell Day-Long seat, but they are $500 starting. There is a slightly used or abused Saddlemen Road Sofa on ebay for $200. I would bet it's better than the old stock seat I have, but not as good as the Russell...

    Vacuum gauges on ebay.

I bought 2 of these for $10 plus $5 shipping from ebay. This was a little unique in that he was selling a 2 pack, and it already has a barbed fitting which you can push a plastic tube onto. This is a different seller and my gauges have the fitting on the bottom, but otherwise this looks pretty...

    Bottoming out.

The rear springs are two springs, one inside the other. The stock spring and the Progressive springs were both built that way. The progressive springs were just a little thicker, and they did get closer together at one end. My front forks act the same way as what you describe, but maybe that...
