    75 rear caliper rebuild

You really don’t see many four cylinder wings here, they are a rare beast

    75 rear caliper rebuild

In the past when I had the caliber apart I refitted that seal shown. Not ideal I know but it wasn’t leaking from there before and it didn’t leak afterwards. I would be wary of fitting o rings that may not be brake fluid compatible

    Can't Get It to Idle

Just wondering if you have power on the solenoid near the base of the carb. Without power applied the engine will not idle

Oil Filter issue with a GL1100

Hi, there should be a spring and a washer behind the filter element, the spring is 15415-300-000 and the washer is 15414-300-000. Without the spring oil can bypass the filter so it needs to be there. I looked it up on mrcycles.com

    Demise of the older Goldwing

I can relate to this post, having just sold my 1976 GL1000 after 22 years of ownership. It has taken a lot of work over the years to keep it running well but for me, after 49 years in the motor trade my back and hands are not what they used to be , and I was just not using it enough anymore...

spark fuel ? Update 11-30 yanking the carb

I had problems something like this when the carbs on my gl1000 had blocked filters at the float valves causing fuel starvation. Might be worth considering. Had to strip the carbs to fix it.

Tell me if this is 'normal'...

My GL1000 certainly won't pull that low down without protesting, I'm afraid I think you were just in the wrong gear for the speed...

    Front brake issues

If the master cylinder piston sticks down and keeps the compensating port covered you will have this problem. You may have to overhaul the master cylinder.

Is This The Way It Starts ?

Once you have one you will always want one. When I bought my nc700s the intention was to sell the GL1000. But in th end I just couldn’t part with it, now there are two bikes in our garage.

Hi my name is chick a newbie to this site and gold wings

Hi Chick, just had the same problem with my gl1000, to fix it I ran a new wire from the 30a fuse by the battery to the regulator, removed the black sense wire from the loom plug , fitted a new terminal to the cable and fitted it to this plug. Now charged at around 14.5v with the lights on. The...

    Another new guy

Both really, not far off retirement, the bike has done 157,500 km and my daily ride is a NC700S, so the GL only goes out on the weekends now. Usually shorter rides as my wife likes to go out on the bike with me when the weather is nice, but is not so keen on longer trips. It got a rebuild at...
