There's a moron working on my bike.

That would be me. A few weeks back my wife an d I were out riding and some lady started to pull out in front of us, so I tried to blow the horn. It was so weak I could barely hear it, and the lady in the car just kept on. Luckily I had room to slow down. As a result I got some new horns, so...

Nice ride today, maybe done for a while.

My wife and I went for a nice ride today. Just about 2 hours, but it was nice. I'm still getting the hang of the wing. This is only my second time on the twisty stuff around here. I felt a lot better on it this time. I do like the bike, a lot. The bike will be down for a while. I ordered...

Seats, the best of times, and the worst of times.

I sold my seat from my Suzuki Marauder on ebay. The guy bought the same day I listed it. I shipped it the next day, USPS Parcel Post. Then the post office decided to take their good old time shipping it. He got real impatient and after 5 days he filed a complaint with ebay (Who no longer...

    New seat time. Maybe.

Has anyone used the Saddlemen Road Sofa on a GL1100? I have my eyes set on a Russell Day-Long seat, but they are $500 starting. There is a slightly used or abused Saddlemen Road Sofa on ebay for $200. I would bet it's better than the old stock seat I have, but not as good as the Russell...

    Vacuum gauges on ebay.

I bought 2 of these for $10 plus $5 shipping from ebay. This was a little unique in that he was selling a 2 pack, and it already has a barbed fitting which you can push a plastic tube onto. This is a different seller and my gauges have the fitting on the bottom, but otherwise this looks pretty...

    Whine in 3rd gear.

I noticed that my GL1100 has a loud whine in 3rd gear. The other gears seem to be OK, but when I am accelerating and shift into 3rd, I can hear a high pitched whine, especially under load. Is this common, or normal? I wouldn't think so, but it seems like I've seen a comment about it before...

    Wanted, GL1100 trunk parts.

What I am looking for is the mounting hardware on the bottom of the removable trunk. I have this crazy idea of making a sissy bar that can be put on in place of the trunk for local or 1 up riding. But then easily just unlatch it and put the regular trunk back on. I don't want or even need the...

    Front fork oil leak.

I noticed while I had the bike up on the center stand that there was a few streaks of something across the tire, as if something had leaked. Now that I finished the rear shock repair I took the bike down off the center stand and it has been on the sidestand a few days. Now I see another set of...

    EAA Airventure Oshkosh,WI 2010

Hello all, Well today was opening day at EAA's Airventure in Oshkosh, WI. Saw a really great airshow. At the end of the airshow they said that Ford wanted to announce the New 2011 Ford Explorer. But being at Oshkosh they needed to do it a little differently. Well this is how they did it...

    Bottoming out.

My wife and I went for a short ride on the '82 1100 Interstate this afternoon. Before I went I checked the air in the tires. My front was at 10 psi and the rear was at 25 psi. I went ahead and put the recomended 30 psi in the front and the 40 psi in the rear. It was a lot easier to push...

    Oil on right shoe.

Hello All, I finally got the Goldwing to the mechanic to get inspected to get it licensed. I replaced the right exhaust with a chepo from ebay. I noticed when I was bolting the exhaust up that there there was some oil on the bottom of the head. It never leaked before I took the exhaust pipe...

    Right side exhaust '82 GL1100, fair, $20

Right side exhaust. A little rust, but not bad. It was welded ahead of the corssover pipe so it looked crooked on the bike. bad weld job was a bit unsightly as well. Would be good for a Harley muffler job, or if you can re-weld it maybe to get it straight. $20 obo, plus shipping...

1982 Interstate Trunk Bracket, fair, $30, plus shipping.

I put an '83 bracket on my '82 to gain a little more room front to back, so now I have my '82 bracket for sale. It has a little rust on the chrome and the shields. Also on the flat bars on the top the PO used electrical tape to hold the extra wires he added in place and the adhesive came off...

    Brake lever ideas?

I am having a problem with reaching the rear brake pedal with my right foot. I have a bit of arthritus in my hips. As a result I have a hard time getting my right foot to find the rear brake pedal. Is it normal to have to lift your foot off the peg to be able to reach the pedal? The pedal is...

    Diamond seat from ebay.

I found this on ebay fro $15, and the guy was local so I didn't have to pay shipping. It says Diamond Boat Seats on the bottom. here are a couple of pics. The velour is pretty well trashed, but the foam seems to be in good shape. I called Diamond Seats and the will re-cover it for $250...

    Exhaust removal.

I am replacing the right side exhaust on my GL1100. It looks like I need to remove the right side crash bars in order to get the exhaust off of there? Do I need to remove the right side lower fairing also? Last question, should I replace the exhaust gasket also, or is the old one OK provided...

Upper trunk bumper and lights bars, 82 int $50 obo

The lights all work but the wiring is poorly done from the PO. This is around the upper trunk from my 1982 Interstate. Light rust which will probably polish right out.
