    Sylvania H6024CB Cool Blue Headlight

I ended up ordering a cool blue. Was a toss up on that or the silverstar. Both are 55/65w so I figure illumination to be a wash. rock42 - I still have my vetter in storage...white; what color is your vetter? Looks like we could be bookends, eh?

    Sylvania H6024CB Cool Blue Headlight

I just switched out H4 incandescent running light's with LED's to lessen the alternator load. I'm satisfied that brightness matched originals (and also now charging at idle) but now the LED color (bright white) now contrasts with my sealed beam. Don't want to go with HID as it would defeat the...

    WTB - Vetter Lowers

Joe, I actually seen photo's of those yesterday and felt too much of them were missing because of the cutouts.

    WTB - Vetter Lowers

Joe, let me know if you change your mind... Yea, Dan, been lurking "vetter" on Ebay for some time. The single left one is perfect but not sure I could find a right only to match up...I think they normally go in pairs so then I'd have a left only for sale...thanks.

    WTB - Vetter Lowers

Looking for lowers for a Windjammer III. I believe they are ID'd as type 1 to fit a '75-'79 GL1000.

    Driving Lights

They had 5w 'riding' lights in them. Couldn't really figure out why so I removed them and treplaced them with a polished piece of aluminum. They are 3.5" units I got from Dennis Kirk site. I didn't want to go any bigger in diameter.

    Driving Lights

Finished the install. All went well tapping into the headlight circuit for the relay trigger(s). Running seperate relays for both beams. Switched out the 55/55w bulbs with 35/35w. Charging system seems OK with set-up...charging begins at anything above idle. Just need to 'tune' the aiming...

    '75 Driving Light Install

Finished adding driving lights to my '75 today... :Egyptian: :Egyptian: Bought a pair of Drag Specialties 3-1/2'ers; a piece of aluminum stock (some polish) for the mount; switched out the 55/55w bulbs for 35/35w's; and added 2 relays triggered by the stock headlight circuits. Charging...

    Driving Lights

Can I use the stock light switch (hi beam circuit) to trigger a relay to turn on/off driving lights? (ON with hi beam/OFF with low beam). I'm under the impression that this should work as the trigger side of the relay uses very low current draw (inherent function of the relay). The driving...

    UK Source for NOS?

Anyone ever done business with this UK shop? I found some NOS p/n's pretty cheap, even with shipping to the states. Thing is, I emailed them a question about exchange rates and haven't received a reply...kinda doesn't give me warm and fuzzies. https://www.scooters-r-us.co.uk/index.html

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Yea, mcgovern, I think it was early Oct last year when I scored the FH008. In reviewing my data, it looks like the threashold when you start loading the stator/regulator is when the brakes were applied with the fan. I guess you could talley up :read: the loads to find the current draw at that...

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Well I got around to sync'ing the carbs today so I thought I would take scdmarx (and myself) up on the charging experiment... but first... ...as for this subject posting (Question about ignition coils and resistance/application)... the 3ohm Dyna coils / Prestolite EI / no ballast are...

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Well guys, couldn't wait. Weather here was 42 but sunny so I brought it back to life!! :yahoo: HOT DAMN! ...no leaks, no fire, what more could you ask for!!! :good: :Egyptian: :music: :yahoo:  Smokin' alittle but I expected it...cleared up shortly after the fan came on. Just...

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Well guys, I'm goin' for it... :beg: ...no ballast, dyna coils, prestolite EI. :swoon: It's been 3 years since this ride last seen pavement (myself included) and I finally have everything back together (new head gaskets, de-rusted tank, Randakk carb rebuild, FH012 regulator, belts, rad...

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Thanks for the info SCDMARX. Much appreciated. So one question... is my assumption (below) about the lower primary voltage accurate with the 3ohm value of the coil resistance in the primary circuit (being 4v)? Another point (now I'm being dangerous :music: ), if the primary side starting...

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Might be a little expensive but if I don't get any info soon, I think that I will just run without the ballast resistor. If the Prestolite fries, then I'll know it was a voltage issue and I'll get a Dyna S replacement. I know the Dyna S runs without the b/r when using their 3ohm coils. Still...

    Muffler packing

When I did my teardowm this winter, I pulled the exhaust and cleaned 'er all up, paint, etc. I bought my ride new in '75 and I know for a fact that the baffles were never pulled. Man, was that a bi :sensored: ch to get them loose, but I did. One side came out pretty easy and the other was a...

Question about ignition coils and resistance/application

Sooo...Dan, what has transpired? Have the $34 coils worked for your 1100? I too have been unable to find an answer to a similar application question on coil resistance. I've read thru these posts and some on the NGW forum trying to better understand. I have a Prestolite ignition module that...
