    New picture

The picture does it justice. It has had some crappy paint touch ups done to it. I'm going to get it as nice as I can and see if someone will hand me a few thousand for it. I would like a something a little bigger. Daddy drives a Valkyrie, (Almost identical to the one below) which is basically a...

    What's it worth

1976 GL1000 I am fixing to have my bike repainted and it runs good, all the lights work, its fully dressed, and has about 30,000 miles. What would this be worth on something like Craigslist or Ebay? I want to work my way up to a newer wing.

    GL1000 Overheating

Okay. Heat shield off, thermostat out, manual fan switch. Temp gauge acts a litte funny, but its not overheating. I'm gonna put a new temp sender in it soon. I'm also going to put a fairing on. I cant stand 40 degree wind much longer. I passed my brother-in-law at 80 on it easily today...

    GL1000 Overheating

So the heat shield is the black thing between the fan and carbs that is bolted to the motor right?

    GL1000 Overheating

    GL1000 Overheating

I really don't know how I fixed it. I turned off the gas and ran it until it ran dry, and turned the gas back on. It may have been flooding because it already has gas in the bowls and was still pumping more in. Now it runs like a top. I was terrified that I was going to have to take the...

    GL1000 Overheating

Scratch that. We're all good now! She purrs like a kitten, with the occasional hairball. It says its still overheating a little, but its only running 190 degrees or so.

    GL1000 Overheating

okay. Now it is flooding. When I turn off the gas and it gets the right amount, it runs strong and sounds good. When I turn the gas back on it floods big time.

    GL1000 Overheating

Our laser thermometer is pretty accurate and we took readings from basically everything on the right side. The thermostat is opening, but maybe not at a low enough temperature. I think the next step is to take out the thermostat and try it like that. The head gasket seems to be okay because it...

    GL1000 Overheating

Put it back together and cranked it up today. It says its overheating still. According to a laser thermometer, the left side is fine and runs around 180 degrees Fahrenheit. The right side runs about 50 degrees hotter.
