Cost about 125 for a fella to come to your home and verify the VIN, free if you want to haul it to the DMV.

I goes away after the vehicle is out of the DMV, If I recall it is 7 years here in Ca. states may differ. You will have to pay for a new plate though, thought I could keep my old blue one but no.

That's what happened with the Rats Nest, a lot more mucking around but at least you don't have to pay back rego fees.
