I commute to work on my 83 every day that the weather is decent. My commute is 95 miles round trip and I fill up every morning at the same place. This morning the guy next to me was filling up his pickup. I see this person on a regular basis because he commutes at the about the same time as I do.

I put in just under 10 dollars, and he put in 101 dollars in his pickup, he looked over at me with a disheartened look after seeing my fuel bill said “Wish I had enough nerve to commute on a bike”. I really felt sorry for the guy, it was obvious like many these fuel prices is killing him, really makes me appreciate my old 83 wing, just love this bike.

In my home town there are only two stations and they always have the same price. Yesterday it was $3.99.9 and I failed to gas up. Today around 10:00 I had to gas for a trip early tomorrow morning, the price was $4.15.9 :head bang:
I just now passed trough town and it was down to $4.09.9, I'm guessing they are selling the same gas from that same underground tank.....
BTW, whats that .9 about? does it really make it look a cent cheaper? :smilie_happy:

There's a "reason" for that .9 i can't remember what it was.
Maybe someone knows?

to make oil companies more money.

or maybe it was supposed to pay for the lube each time we bend over to fill our vehicles...
Ooops.
sorry for the rant.

It's really too bad we can't cut through all the negative propaganda surrounding cycling. I firmly believe the world would be less stressed out if more people rode motorcycles.

you are very correct. If everyone rode motorcycles there would be a lot of darwin awards to hand out and a lot less traffic very soon. Many can barely negotiate traffic on very stable 4 tire platforms. And most are so observant in traffic they are truly surprised when they are disturbed.

I commute 66 miles round trip on my '82. In really bad weather (read cold) I drive my Escort ZX2. The cage gets 32 mpg, the wing doesn't average much better but it's a helluva lot more fun.

By comparison my F150 gets 15 mpg. It would defeat the purpose of working if I had to drive it daily

I worked as a Mechanic for a Truck Stop for years ... and I have worked on trucks at the main Fuel fill up station around here in Knoxville . and let me tell you for a fact , MOST all gas , diesel , comes out of the same Pipe , no matter what company ... AND as for the Gas already in the tank in the ground at a Gas station .... yes , I have seen the price changed many many times first thing in the morning, the Manager of the truck stop would look across the interstate and see what price THEY had up... and he would have his set .1 lower . it had nothing to do with what was in the ground... or what it was really costing him. I have been away from this a long time now , but I really dought things have changed much unless now it is just on a Run Away Track . I bet we would ALL be amazed to know Just How Much is really being made on Each truck load of Gas Now Days.

dont let it get below a half of a tank... then just top it off on the way home.... It will cost you less that way.. plus you have plenty of reserve fuel...
