Very tragic loss for both families. I know I'd hate to have to go through this. It even saddens me to hear about others who have to live through something like this.

After reading these two stories, who do you think will come out of it the poor victim, and who will be dragged through the wringer on criminal child endangerment charges?

sad ...just sad ....there is no way to have issues here ...just sadness ...and respect for the people involved

Both very sad. My opinion is that firearms should not be available for children to get ahold of and fire, whether by accident or not. Trigger locks would have kept at least the rifle incident from happening. The toddler with the Deputy's handgun may have happened too quickly for anyone to have stopped, but then again, a toddler perhaps should not have been allowed in the room if the weapons were loaded & fire-able.
Not saying I don't feel for the families of the ones killed, I certainly do, and I don't have all of the facts to make a reasonable call, but I have a thing about firearms being un-attended, loaded, and fire-able around ANYONE that doesn't understand the harm they can cause....and a child just can't possibly know that.

like any tool it has to be respected ...our dumb down education ...scoffs off hands on intelligence as lowclass skills and try and kill it off and replace it with machines or laws ....when they sould have programs of hands on education of issues of life ....this country was built on grass root skills ....not 3piece poster childs of authority gone stupid that has put invisible straitjackets on we the people ....im not going to talk about these particular cases ...but its almost guaranteed in a place where johnny get on the terrorist list and sexual preditor list for playing with a toy gun and want to kiss his kindergarden sweety he met at school...education has nothing to do with taking everything away period ...this is stupidity not education
