So I'm in a bit of a pickle.

This 1975 GL1000 had a previous owner install LED flashers on it and he never got around to install any resistors or a new flasher unit for it.

I decided to pick up this one. I've read in other forums that they have used this one for other LED mods for Goldwings. Plus it states that it eliminates the need for a load resistor.

Just installed it and tried the turn signal and I get a minor "Pulse" out of the signal.

But if i move the turn signal switch in either direction just before you get to the locking in "snap" position... I get the correct "Flash-On-Off" of the turn signals.

Another question: Did the 1975 GL1000 come as a manual cancel or did it have a push to cancel turn signal? The one that is on here I have to manual bring back to the center.

Any clues as to rectifying this so that I can flip the switch in either direction to get the correct flashing?

Try cleaning the contacts in the switch. I believe the auto cancel came later. You'll have to turn them off yourself.

+1 dirty contacts and manuel control

Look at the revues on it, The first one was for a CB model and claimed he had to reverse the gray and black for it to work on his Honda, maybe the same for the GL.

When I installed it I did the same (reversed the grey wire) and that's the only way that the switch will work.

I will clean the contacts in the turn signal and report back my findings.

OK..I would test it while running..those electronic flashers are finicky about getting a full 12 volts and if your key is on and not running it will drop some volts.

This statement in itself points to a problem with the switch itself, as others have suggested.

I've tested them while it ran and it did the same thing. Next step will be to clean the contacts on the switch.
