I am looking at buying either a late 1500 or early 1800. I have done some research on the idea but would happily listen to any suggestions on the pros and cons of either idea so anyone with thoughts on this please chime in
worn shocks on the 1500 wing caused bad handling and the lack of ground clearance. the rear shocks on a 1500 wing consist of a standard spring shock on the left side and an air shock on the right. when the left shock goes bad the air shock is like riding on a pogo stick, its not designed to work without a good left shock so don't write off a 1500 wing at a good price just know in advance that you will be replacing rear shocks and front springs":8u6hbyo1]
Last year my wife and I rented an 1800 for the weekend. I absolutely loved it, the power and handling is incredible. I ran it up close to the century mark and she was very stable, wife wasn't.
I have ridden the 1500 and I didn't care for it in the mountains, especially two up, now I weigh 260 and wife about 140 so we were at the limit on the 1500 weight wise. I scrapped the ground a few times on the corners.
Reality is a bike is like a pair of shoes, what works on person well, may not work for someone else. As already stated, I love the handling of my 1100, even over the 1800, mainly because most of my riding is in the mountains.
replace them both with the progressive 416 air shocks":3612y9xp]
He's right, replacing the left shock is on my to-do list as well.

you don't see that color very often and around here you might get a '95 for that price and with about the same mileage. the rear shocks shouldn't be a problem for now but only you after riding it would know for sure. I have a few post on the problems I've had with my 1500 to help others that have upgraded. my recommended upgrades would be springs and shocks and a h.o. alternator. run the tires at the max recommended air pressure and adjust the suspension for a soft or firm ride":1sr7aksw]
this is the wing I am looking at open to opinions. I have not seen it in person so only going from ad at this point https://amarillo.craigslist.org/mcy/4470720071.html
the po of my 1500 wing had a super brace installed and I didn't know it until my friend mike installed the front springs. I gave him a super brace to install when he did the springs and he gave me the brace back and told me why, I forget its even there. I gave the brace to another friend":b32y40sx]
I would add to William's recommendations the Superbrace front fork brace. For under $50 it's the best mod I have done on my 1500. (The Hollywood mufflers maybe a close second) Go to Wingstuff.com, search Superbrace and read the buyer reviews. 37, all 5 star and they're all true.
