Hi folks! I just took my new to me Gl1200i on a 100 mile trip, and while she ran great, I definitely can see the value in getting some highway pegs or floorboards. I've seen a couple of sets on eBay called "Markland Highway Bar floorboard/footrests" below is a link

https://r.ebay.com/tjx9gP

My question is, how do you mount them? I mean I know they would go in between the top and bottom of the crash bars, but what holds them in place. Is there more needed than what's in the picture? Would someone happen to have a close up picture of what they look like installed?

Thanks so much for any help or advice.

There should be a couple of screws holding the inside half and outside half of the bracket together. Then the 2 pieces of the bracket straddle the crash bar between the top and bottom rails.

These are the same highway boards that are on my 86I. I like that they flip up out of the way. I'm 6'2" and wish that they would go further forward, but they do offer me a way to move my legs around while riding.

How do they attach to the up-right pieces? Any reason you couldn't extend them forward with a piece of heavy flat stock?

+1...that's what it looks like to me, too. Those are nice! I wouldn't mind having a set like that meself! Bound to be more comfortable than just hiway pegs.... :good:

Actually never thought about that. I'll have to look into that. Thanks!

Got a set, with a used set of crash bars for a 84 standard, which did not get any from factory.Crash bars that is,do not need highway bars or boards on a standard.Put feet on top of crash bars,so on the 87 interstate they went. They give you a change of position which is good, they are a nice bonus, would never have bought a new set,(don't make it run any better or faster I don't need it) but it's a nice thing to have.

I have a set of pegs on my crash bars that have your feet right alongside the valve covers. They do help but I wish they were further forward. With the flat four engine everything is pretty wide and finding a location for a more forward location is not easy.

Those boards are nice.
I have a pair but the mount is broken on one but I tried the good one.
Definitely a better choice over pegs and those have a tab to set your heal against to help keep your boot there.
If I had the money I'd bid on them. They seem rather rare.
I don't understand the mounting so no help there.
Mine mount with regular style clamp like the pegs use.
