Hi, just got a 1983 gl 1100 it has a rebuilt engin but broke a valve on start up and the wiering is in a mess got it for $ 600. the guy i got it from was moving, hooping i can get enough info here to get her back on the road.

sounds like the a belt off in the timing and bent the valve ...you have some work ahead ...theres plenty of help here on this ...but hands are yours that do the job ...when you get this done you will be quite one with the bike ....its not that bad realy ...to get it right

Yep....sounds like timing belts were not installed correctly.
