New toy, and be careful on ice!

Happy new year everyone!

It's been a while since I posted, you know how the holidays can be!
Back in November, my wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary. While we were out, Mrs. Bug let me pick up this shiny new (to me) toy.

2007 dyna low rider

She's a 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider. Sheesh! That's a mouthful! She only has 3500 miles on her, well now it's 4100, and not a scratch on her.

I took her out on new year's day and had my first mishap on two wheels. I hit some black ice in the middle of a snow patch and she just slid right over... I'm not sure what I did wrong, I held the throttle even, didn't touch the breaks, but the rear tire just slid out from under me.

Only minor scraches on the crash bars and one on the bottom of the transfer case, and no damage to myself. So I guess I have to wait until after the snow is melted... from the roads, that is.

Nice bike, glad your OK..Not much black ice here in so cal but hit some diesel fuel once, probably similar.

Picked up a 98 Valk new toy for me back in July I think. New toys are nice. Black ice isn't.

I hate seeing things like this, but I'm glad you and the bike are ok. On ice, it is hard to say what (if anything) you did wrong. Just the small amount of surface area touching the road could be the biggest problem.

Thanks guys.

I hate it when I put my foot down and I step in fuel or oil on the road! It feels like my boot instantly starts to dissolve... can't be good for tires either.

Nice bike, shame about the spill. A little bit quicker than when my bikes decide that they want a sleep, good to see it was mainly damaged pride as in most of my cases.

Sweeet ! Tourer ! aka Bagger ...hope you are enjoying it ! mine was Black standard , my bags are Champion fiberglass . they look like OEM Honda ..and i installed the Honda windscreen ..works best !
