My Speedo drive gear has died on me. I understand that they are still available new, so I will probably go this route, rather than messing around with used.

Any tips or tricks? Should I plan to go ahead and replace the cable, while I'm at it?

Thanks!

Thanks, Joe. I'm assuming you mean pull the cable out of the housing. From the drive end? Couldn't the housing itself be gunked up with old lube and dirt?

The shop where I had my tire mounted said the drive gear was chewed up really bad. I realize they're just nylon, but if the cable was hangy, it seems like that could cause excessive wear. OTOH, my speedo never bounced and seemed to be pretty accurate. :headscratch:
