Long story short coming back from Rolling Thunder my 89 1500 developed a squeak which became a squeal when I got back home I pulled the rear end down and found the rotor was dragging on the front ( side closest to the front of the bike) of the cast brake caliper housing . It was still grinding when I pulled in to home .I did encounter a large pot hole in DC (one other than congress) I have checked for a room out of round ,replaced the rotor but it still grinds ..any idea's what to check next

Try pulling the caliper from the mount. I believe there are two mount pin bolts. Sounds like one has gone bad or left you altogether.
