ok this dosnt explain much.....guy on another forum ditched this carb for dft carb ....but he was doing things i wouldnt and doing things that made no sense to me ..... wish you guys could put videos up

Makes total sense to me so far. If 122 too small then go up in size.

I went the other way, larger then smaller, and larger again to find 1.40 but I also worked the idle to the best it could get before doing anything with primary.

Well so far so good did a couple uphill starts on the way to the ferry with no stutter, once I get off on the other side I can open it up on the highway and see how it goes.

I will when I get to that point. Every time I makeplans, the wife changes them on me.

OK I've had the 122 jet in for a couple of days, put a couple hundred miles on, and I'm getting about 34mpg. Still a bit sluggish on uphill acceleration though, may bump the jet size up to 124

May need to adjust my accelerator pump on the uphill accel if I crank the throttle then bring it back the bike will take off

Yes sounds a bit lean maybe.

Dan, you mention that you have your accel pump disconnected. Why is that?
I haven't found it to be needed under any acceleration or load so I figure why pump raw gas in.

That is some good info to have! :hi:

when your dialing in ...and twisting the throttle off idle is a good time to deal with accelerator pump and transition circuit to main jet ....on my bike if i got it to rev super fast in a no load position ...it seemed under load while riding a bit rich ....so when i kept thing as lean as possible under no load revving ...under load it was perfect .....on my bike it actually pops and backfires a bit down low in rpm ...impossible to hide its aggressive nature....with the dft carb being to rich off idle was a huge problem .....the dft had no way to change jetting for accellerator pump..

as for solex im not sure if accelerator pump jetting is changeable ill look at pic some when i get time .....dans solex though different than you guys ...runs really well ..so that is some good info ...on my dft i had to add more air and less gas in idle circuit to get good off idle response ....

What I was finding was that as soon as I start to crack the throttle, it just wanted to fall over on itself. If I feathered the throttle, then it would pick-up and take off. There is a fine balance with the accel pump to make sure that not too much fuel is being pumped in. The problem is finding the balance. I hope to begin searching for that balance in earnest tomorrow!

Ordered up a 125 jet still want to play with the accelerator pump, just don't have the time right now for tweaking and testing so I'm just gonna do the jet upsize for now and hope that takes care of the uphill problems

Ok got the 125 jet and installed. Mileage is running about 32-33 mpg. Throttling still sluggish. May do Dan's suggestion and disconnect the accelerator pump and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't I have the rebuild kit for the Holley and will reinstall it with the CI manifold. I did find the accelerator pump boot tore up on the Holley when I finally got to disassembly last weekend, so that may have been causing my trouble with it
