GL 1000 Ignition coils sparkplug wires

I used 1500 coils on my 78 GL1000. They work fine.

    what did you do today

I feel sorry for everyone that lives up North. I'd hate to live somewhere where I couldn't ride all year around. For me, winterizing means making sure the anti-freeze is good and wearing warmer clothing to ride.

I took my new puppy for a ride.

    Coolant tubes

I just did it last Spring. It isn't hard. My GL1000 had a leak from the gasket on the top of the heads at the fitting where the crossover pipes connect. I unbolted the fitting and replaced the gasket, and wiggled the crossover pipe out. Both o-rings were old and split, so I had to replace them...

Back in the saddle again, well hopefully

Welcome Dennis! I got my '78 GL1000 in 2010, and I had a few PO problems to work out, but she's running good now. Like you, I'm on a fixed income, so no fancy new bikes for me. The aftermarket and used parts availability is pretty good for these bikes, and with a little skill, they aren't too...

Need help deciding on what 1 barrel carb to buy.

You can try his old email: [email protected] I don't know if Mark is still keeping the business up after his dad passed away. The mailing address I have for him is: 102 Foxwood Circle Oliver Springs, TN 37840

Need help deciding on what 1 barrel carb to buy.

You'll need to check with him. I had mine done a few years ago for $350 + shipping. If/when they need it again, I'll probably do it myself. I just wanted a pro to go over that set and make sure they were good to rebuild.

Need help deciding on what 1 barrel carb to buy.

I spent years messing around with single carbs and different manifold setups on my 78 GL1000. I never could get one to idle under 1500-2000 rpm. I tried 1 barrel Chinese 34-3 and Solex 34-3. Also 2 barrel Weber, Carter and others. Finally, I got tired of not riding and bought a rebuildable...

76 GL1000 newbie: Looking forward to learning!

So, you're the original owner? Any pics? I didn't get my '78 until 2010, but better late than never.

Where did your Goldwing take you today?

I ran some errands and went to the store on my '78 GL1000. Got her running again, but still have to fix a water leak, change the oil & filter and replace the tires. Here's a pic during today's ride.

Single Carb Conversion 2 Barrel Progressive Holley,Weber 740 carb

I agree, and I still like the SCC setup for simplicity and reliability. I just need to get another bike so that I can have one to ride, and another to experiment with! :hihihi:

Single Carb Conversion 2 Barrel Progressive Holley,Weber 740 carb

That's great Joe. I've put my single carb work on hold for a while, and had Pistol Pete's son, Mark, rebuild my stock rack because my daughter really wanted to ride with me. She got her license earlier this year, and bought a used Yamaha R6. She said that her friends are no fun to ride with...
