    Won't turn over...

OK Folks - sorry for such a long delay. Working as a contractor and traveling around the country does not allow a lot of time for 'playing' on the computer (or the bike for that matter). THE BIKE WILL NOW TURN OVER!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!! Issue - there were 2 issues - one, the starter solenoid. The...

    Won't turn over...

Thanks for the replys. The plugs are out (I did have a hydro'ed cyl before I took the carbs off). I'll be doing a bit more troubleshooting soon as the temps get above 13 in the garage (which should be sometime next week!!!). Lennecke

would those circuits involve the led display? That is not working (it was). I'll be giving those circuits a check soon as I can - fire house duty tonight. Thanks, Lennecke

    Won't turn over...

Thanks for the responses folks. Battery is charged and connections tight. When I push the starter switch the headlight goes out completely. I don't hear any buzzing or clicks (fuel pump off the machine). I did put the FP back in the circuit to see if that changed anything, but nope, no change...

    Won't turn over...

Folks, Just starting to tear into a 86 A. The carbs are off being cleaned by me. Slow going process as I just started working again and need to put in the hrs. The issue is this - Pushing the starter button just dims the headlight! I was able to fire the bike up when I got it using starting...

    86 Fuel Pump

Yeah, fire - you'd think I would know a thing or 2 about those as I am a volunteer firefighter in my 'off' time. Guess it just goes to show that you never think anything 'bad' is going to happen to you, only the 'other guy'. Well, lesson learned (I hope!!). Yeah, the engine was hydro-locked...

    86 Fuel Pump

OK, to close (maybe) this thread, or at least change direction, I attempted to get the Wing started - Never heard it run although the guy I got it from told me it did (no battery in bike when I got it). Well, I got it home and connected a battery I had lying around and got it to turn over (step...

    86 Fuel Pump

Mike - Thanks for the info - I'll be checking into it later today/tomorrow. JoeP - Thanks - I'll be ripping into this tonight. I'm sure there are 'issues' with the mice being behind the fairing. I know they munched on the air cleaner (does not look like they got into the intake). Lennecke

    86 Fuel Pump

:thanks: all for the info/things to check. I'll check the fuel pump on/off while cranking when it gets a bit warmer in the shop. I DO (or at least did) have mice in the fairing up by the headlight. I've vacuumed as much out as I can but I need to remove the external area (or internal dash?)...

    86 Fuel Pump

My fuel pump is not working (expected as the bike sat for at least 5 years). I have been checking out the bike (new to me) and found that when I turn on the ignition and move the kill switch on/off the pump would (sometimes) go through one stroke. I took it apart and cleaned the points (really...

    Hello All...

Thanks everyone for the warm reception. I'll be getting some pics as soon as I can, but right now not sure when that will be (soon I hope!). Lennecke

    Hello All...

Just got my ID validated, so here's my first post: Just got an '86 GL1200A in not running condition - rust in tank (and guessing carbs and pump). I'm looking for technical knowledge on these machines as my last Honda was a little 90 scrambler back in the late 60's or early 70 (don't really...
