Selling 1984 Goldwing - Unique Version

I am selling a 1984 Goldwing. Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The mileage is 104447. This is technically a Goldwing Standard but it has been specially outfitted with a Goldwing Fairing and saddlebags to look more like an Interstate. I paid 2000 dollars for this when I bought it a few years ago. I am...

    1984 Rear Brake Question

I have a 1984 Goldwing Standard. I did some work on cleaning the rear caliper earlier. Cleaning it up, replacing pads. It worked pretty well for one ride. Now a few days later, when I press the rear brake pedal all the way down, the brakes do not engage, or at least very very little. I...

    Front Brake Question

I have a 1984 GL1200 Standard. My front brake has been acting funny since I bought it a couple years back. I find it takes way too much squeezing to get any stopping pressure on the front brake. I have to squeeze it almost totally against the handle grip before it starts to do anything. Way...

    Look at my rear brakes

My rear brakes seemed to be sticking so I took the caliper apart and greased the slides as I assumed that was the problem. I also replaced pads. When I put it back together I still noticed some issues as the rear brakes were getting hot. I looked closer from the rear and noticed the inner...

Question about removing rear brake caliper

So, like do it one pin at a time with the caliper still bolted on?

Question about removing rear brake caliper

I have a 1984 GL1200. I have to grease the brake slides on the rear brake. It seems like there is no way to remove the caliper without having to disconnect the brake line. Thus I would have to drain the fluid. The brake line is not long enough for me to remove the caliper otherwise. Is...

What do the Seat Bolts look like? 1984 GL1200

Since your profile says you own one, I am inclined to believe you. :thanks:

What do the Seat Bolts look like? 1984 GL1200

I seem to be missing the Seat Bolts on my 1984 Standard. The old owner put a make shift bolt in, and on the other side its missing completely. Can someone show me a picture of what they are actually supposed to look like?

Gauges went crazy, temp and fuel. Charging issue?

Not quite sure where this is, beyond that it is "behind the gauges". Bear in mind, this is a standard 1984.

Gauges went crazy, temp and fuel. Charging issue?

Nice solution. Until I get that replaced, is there a fuse or something I can remove until the I can get the device swapped out? People say to avoid having the high voltage reek havoc on the gauges.

Gauges went crazy, temp and fuel. Charging issue?

Basically what I said in the title. My fuel gauge and temp gauge without warning started going all the way to the high positions. Both concurrently. Not sure why. I was out on a 4 hour ride. It was only doing this for about a half hour period. Then it went back to normal. What would cause...

    Cleaning Windshield - Best Practices

I have one of them Slipstreamer plastic windshields with that vent in the middle on it. Its got like a year or two worth of bugs, gunk, and dirt on it. Just inquiring what the best methods are for cleaning. Obviously, get it very wet before attempting to get stuff off, but I kind of think...

Gl1200 Clutch Lever, should I bleed?

If I were to replace the pins, can this be done without a lot of disassembly? I assume I would take off the left side saddle bag, but does anything else major have to be removed to replace the pins?

Gl1200 Clutch Lever, should I bleed?

Update: Played with the clutch a little more. That seems fine now. The rear brake. I checked the fluid in the master cylinder under the side cover. That looked fine. Funny that when on the center stand, the brake pedal travels easier and further then when on the road. It grabs better...
