    Yes thanks to shovelking for coming up with the idea to use grab bar for runners. I could not remember which post I had first read regarding this approach. Works well and comes out pretty clean looking also. dave

    A workmate told me once when drilling stainless keep it wet with just about anything and even cheap bit will work. wd-40, cutting oil, penetrating spray, whatever. It does seem to make a big difference. dave

    I only ride in good weather and we have good weather here. We do expect the first real rain of the year starting tomorrow so that's why I wanted to get test ride in today. It's in garage nice and dry. dave

    just got back from 75 mile ride with new setup. Again low 60's in so. cal. today. Filled up fuel at start and refilled after ride. 1.9 gal. so about 37 mpg. good enough for me. mostly freeway and also blvd. riding.     Got one more runner done today but won't get back to it till tuesday to do the other two. And we might actually get a storm here in so cal next week possibly delaying me even more. I certainly don't have a strong opinion if this is going to be better or not, just thinking about trying two...

    Ok here is an update. remounted carb now without vacuum leak, and re adjusted idle mix and idle speed screw. 1.5 + turns on mix screw. Idling pretty smooth at 1000 rpm. Quick trip in truck to autozone for aftermarket air filter, about 8 bucks. Using cutoff bottom of coffee can for filter top (...

    thanks for the stud info. Hose is from napa. Started it today and had vac leak at carb to 2 to 1 connection. tightened a bit more and started again. adjust idle mix and speed screw and then took vid of a startup. down the block run showed flat spot off idle and further checking with spray shows...

    btw is the air filter mount stud that comes with Tom's carb 6 mm? I'm going to maybe need a longer one and that is what it seems to be as near as I can tell. I thought it was a quarter fine thread but my quarter 28 die would not thread on. thanks, dave
