Pistol Pete / Moose..... Carb service,

:music: When I was rebuilding my '83 Aspy, I sent them the whole carb rack. Man, can't say enough good things about them :good: The bike ran great, never an issue with the carbs. :thanks:

    Harbor Freight Tag-Along trailer

When looking at your picture and the description, I still don't understand how the extension was made and assembled. Did your welder bend a new box to fit over the original tongue and how did he weld it? The piece he bent fit INSIDE the original, with enough on both ends to make a 24"...

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

Roger that! When I was overhauling my '83, I was reluctant to spend the $$$ to have Pete redo the carbs.....best money I spent on the whole project! They do wonders, hands down... :music:

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

When I had my '83 Aspy, I could really tell the difference when I was pulling a fully loaded Tag A Long.....I spend a lot of time in 4th gear. I would agree that if you were going to pull something long term, you'd need to change the gearing.... not sure which combination of parts would give you...

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

Gerry- I added a third brake light with no problem...IIRC, I just used a meter to find the right wire and tapped into it.

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

I'm confused...since the trailer (mine anyway) had a flat 4, you need a Hopkins or equivalent to get things working correctly. Most every one I know used a 5 to 4 converter to get all the trailer lights working correctly (assuming a flat 4 on the trailer).

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

Gerry- I use S hooks, but shortened the safety chains considerably. You want them JUST long enough so that you can turn full left/right without binding. Cross the chains under the tongue. The theory is if, for some reason, the tongue comes loose from the ball, the crossed chains will cradle the...

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

\ Amen to that, Dan. I took my 1800 out for the first time on Sunday; I installed the Rivco tongue with the lock pin (I thought) - came home.....no tongue :head bang: :head bang: Cost to have a new one sent to me??? $90!!!! ALWAYS make the lock locks....nuff said....

Tag A Long to the Rescue!!!!

Gerry- I think I ran into the same issue.....IIRC, my solution involved spreading the hitch itself apart about an 1/8" so the bottom part was free to move. Sounds like you are having the exact same problem I had. Also make sure you grease the movable parts rather well (after you spread the body...

Mild restoration on my Dads '75

When I redid my '83 I added CBR coils...should be some chatter on here about that; IIRC, they are a lot hotter than the original coils. It was a very easy swap and, I believe, added to the reliability as well as generating a hotter spark. Others on here can chime in if they've done the CBR coil...

Anyone use Pistol Pete carb service

When I got my '83, it'd been sitting for a few years and needed carb work. I sent the whole ball of wax off to Pistol Pete's and they rebuilt, then synced them. I put the rack back on, just as it came from them :clapping: - Wowzers! They are awesome! I am, for sure, a satisfied customer...
