Tapping into engine coolant for heat

Ok, I got the pieces back from the welder today. They came out pretty well. Next step is to weld the heat exchange pipes to the bottom of the plenum. Someone mentioned a piece of aluminum sheet, but I'm not sure I understand the application (why) or configuration (how). If anyone has some input...

Tapping into engine coolant for heat

Jeeeez, you guys make it sound like I thought the clear hose idea through. In truth, it was the only hose that the local Ace Hardware had with an inside diameter that was close to the outside diameter of the conduit pipe. Pretty simple decision...

Tapping into engine coolant for heat

Couple of pictures of the plenum with my first pass at runners. I'm not really tickled with the outcome, so I'll probably change it a bit. And for the record, If my pictures are upside-down again, I'm not sure why.

Tapping into engine coolant for heat

Not yet. My buddy has the pieces on the welding table, and hasn't gotten it finished yet. It's a pretty simple deal - one input branching into two parallel tubes back to a single output. I figure, if my memory holds, that I'm slowing the flow by half by splitting the flow into two tubes, each...

Tapping into engine coolant for heat

Canuck, I'm using an aluminum tube with an ID of 1/2in. The OD is right at 5/8in, so that will be an easy hose to find, a really common size in the local hardware store. One of the guys at work started on the welding last night, so hopefully I'll have the finished pieces back tomorrow...

    Gl1100 Aspencade Speedometer/Odometer

Guys, my speedo/odo quit today. I'm pretty sure it's the cable or sensor that's crapped out. Has anyone got a spare cable for the 83A kicking around the shop? There are none on Fleebay, and I know these are pretty rare and hard to find. Or, if someone knows how to fix the sensor, I'm willing to...

    Looking to replace gl1100 horns

This may be a silly question, but here goes. I've tried a few horns, including originals and replacements. I can't even get a good sound, just a clunk. Hadn't thought of running it through a relay, so I may try that next. Any suggestions? Thx!!

Tapping into engine coolant for heat

So, I know I'm late to the party here, but thought that I'd share my solution for using hot water from the engine to add heat. I'm going to come off one side with a water hose welded into the elbow at the top of the head, into an aluminum heat exchanger welded to the Empi, and back into the...

    New guy on the forum...

Well, I'm from Coloado, moved to Georgia in 2009, just because. And moved back home to "Heaven on Earth" in January. Met a lot of wonderful people during my years in the south, ate a lot of deep fried food (some of which probably shouldn't have been deep fried) , and was a member of the Winder...

    Hello all!!

I'm new to this forum. Am currently working on my second restoration, this time its an 82 Aspy. Found it in a barn in North Carolina, and while the fundamentals are there, its in pretty sad shape. I've pulled it down to the frame, and am currently working on the carbs. Painted the frame over...
