    Neutral switch...

That was a few years ago, and my memory ain’t what it used to be, and I’ve restored 3 or 4 bikes since then, but I’m fairly certain the other website I referred to was GOLDWINGDOCS.com

Where did the newbie go bad?

What was the problem in the first place that made you pull and clean the carbs? Was the bike running at all? Had it been sitting for a long time? My recommendation would definitely be to pull the carbs again and go through them. I would be willing to bet that when you do you will see something...

Post a bike you wanted but never had

I agree with you on the boxer engine, Dan. In my opinion, if it ain’t a Boxer, it ain’t a BMW. I have three BMW’s right now, one of which is the wife’s bike, and they are all three great bikes. As for the 360T, that was also a great bike. I was working for a Honda dealership when those things...

Post a bike you wanted but never had

Thanks for the article from Motorcycle Classics. I subscribed to that fine magazine for years, but somehow let my subscription lapse. I need to renew! By the way… I had one of my restorations featured in the “Readers Rides” section of that magazine several years ago. It was a 1974 CB450. It just...

Post a bike you wanted but never had

Well, this is a bike that I always wanted, since they came out, and I actually got one about a year and a half ago. 1974 BMW R90S. So I guess I’m braking the rules a little bit here.

Very nice 77! Thank God someone took those nasty handlebars off! I don’t know what Honda was thinking when they put apes on a GoldWing.

    95 speedometer

When I do my restorations I use a place called CB750FACES.COM for gauge parts. They have really nice stuff, and they are easy to deal with. I believe they are in the Netherlands, although I’m not sure about that cuz it’s been a couple of years since I’ve ordered from them. Anyway… I’ve noticed...

    95 speedometer

Did you try the drill in reverse? Counterclockwise? If I’m not mistaken, which is possible, it needs to run counterclockwise to make the speedometer work. You could pull the cable at the wheel again, spin the wheel, and see which way it turns. However, if you’re hearing a bunch of racket coming...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

I ride mine also. But mine doesn’t sound like yours does. Like I said, maybe it’s just me. What do I know? I will just leave it at that… Have a nice day.

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

Maybe it’s just me, but watching your video I’m convinced that thing is not running on all four cylinders. It’s nowhere near as smooth as a goldwing should be. It should sound like a big sewing machine, and that video sounds like you’ve got two or three cylinders pushing a dead cylinder or two...

Well, he owns several Chevrolets, so he needs as big a tool box as he can fit in the garage. sorry… that was just TOO easy.

    Cylinder not firing

I have a Vevor 30 liter unit. If you want to do banks of carburetors without separating them you’re gonna need one that size. If I’m not mistaken, mine was around $250 or so. The cleaning solution I got off of Amazon for about $45 I think. For 1 gallon. It’s just for cleaning carbs in an...

1976 GL1000 - Cylinder #3 runs cold when on choke

I would have to agree with that. If it runs good once warm I would count my blessings and move on. You do have two beautiful bikes there, so I’m not sure I would sweat a small choke issue. And I know what you’re saying about being tired of messing with them. It took me quite awhile to get my...

1976 GL1000 - Cylinder #3 runs cold when on choke

For what it’s worth, I’ll toss in my 2 cents here. I recently restored a 77, and I too had a terrible time with the carbs. Even though the carbs were professionally rebuilt, by a person who is HIGHLY regarded by members of this forum, when firing up the bike, it ran pretty bad. I had to totally...
