    Rear brakes

Losing pedal is almost always air getting in. The question is where. Following the brake line from the reservoir to the caliper, is there ANY sign of brake fluid leaking? After the reservoir is filled, and you start to lose pedal, is the fluid level dropping in the reservoir?

    Rear brakes

Losing brake pressure and regaining some brake after pumping the pedal points to air in the system. Air can get in via leaking master cylinder or there is air trapped in the caliper (very common on the 1100 once air gets in). The issue is that once air is purged and the pedal gets normal...

    Tachometer/speedometer rebuild kits? Or replacement?

There are some good YouTube videos on how to open the gauges. I opened my '82 gauges to clean and oil them and found dust stuck on the old grease on the speedo drive. Cleaned that up and applied new lithium grease. Same for the tach. Both ran smooth and quiet with no bouncing after that.

    Dropping cylinders; probable cause

All I can add is that I rebuilt 2 sets of 1100 carbs and they were pretty simple to take apart, clean and rebuild. There are great tutorials here on the site that will walk anyone through step by step if they are willing.

    Dropping cylinders; probable cause

I would say vomiting gas out of a cylinder is good enough reason to rebuild the carbs! No argument there! :ROFLMAO:

    Mixture screw adjustment ‘83 Aspy

If you made it this far at 42 MPG, I would only consider a minor cleaning via adding 8 oz of ATF to a full tank of high octane gas to see if there might be some minor deposits. I have not done any work on an 1100 in quite some time now, but I only adjusted the mixture screws via the idle drop...

    '83 Gl1100 STD

Don't see too many fully intact '83 Standards anymore. Nice bike! Seems to be near where we lived in New Haven back in the '80's! I used to run oyster suction dredges out of New Haven.

1976 Limited LTD Left Side cover

FYI, there are several GL1000 left side covers on Ebay right now. Might not be the right color, but they can be painted and a decal kit is available (also on Ebay).

1976 Limited LTD Left Side cover

The battery side cover on 1000's and 1100's is hard to come by at this point. I had found searching E-bay weekly was about the only place I was able to come up with hard to find parts for my '82 1100. 1000's are even harder to find parts for and a '76 Limited LTD is really hard. (Love that...

The curse of The Turd strikes again....

Joel, you really have to consider solid tires at some point. (Or stop lettin the air out of them). :ROFLMAO:
