I took my 86' to a truck scale, Now a truck scale, I suppose is Not very accurate, when dealing with 1000-Lbs or less, because it is used to weigh Heavy weights and they are probably more concerned with Thousand's of pound's or tons accuracy. But when i started out with my project's 83' & 86' the Goal's were: 1. If a part does Not serve a important purpose, it comes Off. Reduce weight were ever possible, but maintain a Safe bike. I cant remember the exact weight that the exhaust dropped, but it was substantial. 2. I want these Bikes as Short as Possible, 3. I want these Bikes as Narrow as Possible, 4. I want the weight as low as possible, Keeping to these goals really changed the personality of the bike. The Rear part of the Frame, about 6"+, was removed off of the 86', as it did no longer served a purpose. I did keep the center stand, as we all know these GW's like the their center stands, I am still thinking about how to remove it and still work around that one. I thought about having a center floor stand, for home and using the side stand for riding & away from home.
