Howdy folks, I just got back from a 2 hr ride to see how it would run after it went to the shop. I coughed out $1340.00 for carb kit, plugs, all fluids, filters and greases. 12 hours labor. Anyway I live about an hour away and found these issues. The mechanic told me it was not running on #3 cyl. I asked if he had done a compression test and he said he didn't think it was an issue. He thought it was in the carb and plugs. When I picked it up it started/ran okay. It seemed to run well in the city with stop and go driving. When I was on the hwy I decided to see if the acceleration was as it should be. I cranked the throttle and it was like sort-of missing, but when it 5,000 rpm it cleared and ran smooth until around 7 grand then started missing again I backed off, got to a place in traffic where I could do it again, and the same thing happened. I decided to play with the sudden rpm surge, if I didn't crank on the throttle and slowly gave gas is seemed to be okay. I also noticed it was "drinking gas" and the tailpipe has a heavy gas smell, plus it is wet. Any Ideas would be helpful. I called my mechanic and will be bringing it in to him on Tuesday. He thinks a part he put in might have been bad, not seated, something like that. TIA
