    these questions are for those who may have seen a 70's wing on the showroom floor or assembled at the factory. or anyone who has a good "id" of what a concourse spec'd bike should look like on the smaller details.... thanks in advance. 1. bolts- zinc plated at factory? greenish gold? all bolts...

    nope....:-) still riding raw. the seat is comfy as is.....if I line up the seat with the fakee, it forces a lot of pressure onto the prostate. I just drive in the daylight and no wet rainy ridfing.....but lately I have thought a brake light might be nice so I could drive after dark.

    ok. that was all the arm twisting I needed. I will use the roll-a-gasket material, layer it up thickness tested with the vise. may add copper spray maybe not. will photo n post afterwards. will be good learning experiencr mixing pistons, rings, clutches, etc between the 75 and 78. that leaves me...

    need a gl1000 engine to go into my 75 restore project. took 2 sets of engine cases to machinist, who told me the corrosion needed boring. therefore, on "lay-off" budget this project is iceberg-ed until i find a case or another motor. bought new head gaskets, swapped the rocker pins, valves ok...

    I am posting the additional images with brief commentary. Questions? Just ask! Believe it or not the set of hole punches from harbor freight wasn't used that much.

    Next, all the holes have been hammer-pressed out and the bolts are holding the gasket in its place. Next, the flatter of the 2 hammer tips can be used the press or tap around the inside edge of the gasket to finish the job.

    What is really nice about these honda gl engines? They are machined at such tight parameters that they have really sharp edges. So, you can simply lay the newly cut-outlined gasket exactly over the transmission cover. Make sure it is positioned to cover all edges. Then take a rounded ball-peen...

    Once you outline the piece you are cutting with wharever marker you like, simple scissors work good for precision to cut around the outside edge.
